This emphasis offers students the opportunity to get behind the camera or computer and create.

  • Digital video, 16 mm motion pictures and computer-generated animation are all areas the film and new media students may wish to explore.
  • The Film & New Media Production Emphasis is for those seeking concentrated training/education in film and new media production and technology.
  • The student does not take a minor.
  • Other theatre and film courses may be taken as electives in the major.

Whatever the area of interest, a key foundation of the program is to provide comprehensive training while requiring students to put their education into practice.

The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center features state-of-the-art technology for all aspects of film/new media education including:

    • Film & New Media Production received the Emmy Award as Technical Director for the Back at the Barnyard television series for Nickelodeon (2009).
  • Sharon Teo, Associate Professor
    • Film & New Media Production received the regional Emmy Award for editing the documentary Wandering Souls: Tet '68 Remembered.

    • Eddie student editing award for the documentary Wandering Souls: Tet '68 Remembered.
    • Artistic Fellowship Merit Award in Filmmaking (Drama) by the Nebraska Arts Council (2006).
