Diversity Enhancement Scholarships

Scholarship Details

We value talented students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Your story matters.

These scholarships are meant to identify and attract talented students who have shown knowledge and experience in diverse areas or backgrounds and are prepared to use this knowledge to contribute to advancing communities.

The following criteria will be used in the Diversity Enhancement Scholarship selection:

  • Academic preparedness (ACT/SAT scores, GPA, class rank, etc.)
  • Demographic diversity (geographic, first-generation, low-income, single parent household)
  • Life experiences or involvement living or working in diverse organizations or communities

The Process for Applying for a Diversity Enhancement Scholarship

  1. Apply for admission to the university
  2. Watch for an email with your NU ID number (you should receive this within 5 working days after applying.) Use this to apply for Diversity Enhancement Scholarships found in your MyRED account at myred.unl.edu .
  3. Download and submit any additional required forms listed with each scholarship.
  4. Pay attention to application deadlines.

Davis-Chambers Scholarship

Award:
Full direct cost of attendance at UNL.

Details:
Recognizes academically promising students that have knowledge and experience in a diverse environment or community.
  • Applicants must be a Nebraska high school graduate and a resident of Nebraska

Health Sciences Scholarship

Award:
30 credit hours of tuition a year.

Details:
Identifies academically promising students interested in health science careers that statistically have low college-going rates.
  • Qualified candidates must have a strong desire to work in the health sciences field.
  • renewable for a 2nd year of study provided:
    • the recipient completes the program’s first-year requirements
    • AND, satisfies the university’s scholarship renewal requirements

Native American Heritage Scholarship

Award:
Ranges from $2,000 to the full direct cost of attendance.

Details:
Identifies academically promising students who have knowledge and experience in the Native American community and strive to create opportunities in the advancement of this unique culture.
  • renewable for up to 4 academic years (fall and spring semesters)
  • qualify for Nebraska residency (view tribes eligible for NE residency)
  • freshman (has not attempted 12 or more college credits post-graduation)
  • based on financial need and student's academic profile

Tribal College Scholarship

Award:
Full undergraduate tuition for up to 120 credit hours (inclusive of all transfer credit) or completion of a bachelor's degree, whichever comes first.

Details:
  • qualify for Nebraska residency (view tribes eligible for NE residency)
  • cumulative GPA of 2.5 college coursework
  • must be in progress or recently (no break in enrollment) completed a 2-year degree from one of the following tribal colleges:
    • Blackfeet Community College
    • Cheyenne River Community College
    • Dull Knife Memorial College
    • Fort Belknap College
    • Fort Berthold Community College
    • Fort Peck Community College
    • Haskell Indian Nations University
    • Little BigHorn College
    • Little Priest Tribal College
    • Nebraska Indian Community College
    • Oglala Lakota College
    • Sinte Gleska University
    • Sisseton Wahpeton Community College
    • Sitting Bull College
    • Turtle Mountain Community College
    • United Tribes Technical College
