Out-of-state Transfer Scholarships

To be considered for a transfer scholarship, you will need to meet the requirements listed next to each scholarship below. 

Know the Due Dates

The application and enrollment deposit must be received by:

  • December 1, for spring
  • May 1, for summer/fall

Information required for scholarships must be received by:

  • October 1, for spring
  • March 1, for summer/fall

We will not revise scholarships based on college work in-progress that is completed after these dates.

George Beadle Scholarship

Award:
$14,000 per year towards the cost of non-resident tuition

Details:
  • out-of-state students who exhibit superior academic performance
  • scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis.
  • minimum GPA of 3.0
  • earned 14 or more credit hours at the time you submit your scholarship application
  • length of scholarship depends on the amount of credits earned at the time of admission. For students starting UNL with:
    • 14-52 credit hours: scholarship is renewable for 3 years and 2 inclusive summers
    • 53-89 credit hours: scholarship is renewable for 2 years and 1 inclusive summer

  3. NO additional application or personal statement required
  4. submit supporting documents to admissions by:
    • May 1: fall semester

Nebraska Legacy Scholarship

Award:
  • $14,000 or $7,000 per year toward the cost of nonresident tuition charges
  • available for up to 3 years

Details:
  • must be the child of an University of Nebraska graduate
  • minimum GPA of 3.0
  • high school performance & standardized tests are also considered
  • must remain an out-of-state student throughout enrollment
  • earned 14 or more credit hours at the time of scholarship application
  • scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis
  • length of scholarship depends on the amount of credits earned at the time of admission. For students starting UNL with:
    • 14-52 credit hours: scholarship is renewable for 3 years and 2 inclusive summers
    • 53-89 credit hours: scholarship is renewable for 2 years and 1 inclusive summer

Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP)

Award:
Students meeting requirements are awarded the George Beadle Scholarship.

  • minimum GPA of 3.0
  • earned 14 or more credit hours
  • scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis
  • awarded to students who exhibit superior academic performance from:
    • Minnesota
    • Michigan
    • Missouri
    • Kansas
    • Illinois
    • Indiana
    • North Dakota
    • Wisconsin

Ruth Leverton Scholarship

Award:
$9,000 per year
