Admissions - Office Assistant

Assistant Admissions Counselor: Access, Inclusion and Diversity

Assistant Admissions Counselor: International Recruitment

UNL's Office of Admissions seeks an outgoing, detailed self-starter to engage with prospective international students. The successful candidate will persuasively respond to incoming questions via email, walk applicants through the admissions process, identify missing documents and answer questions about campus life at Nebraska.  Assistant Admissions Counselors may also meet with students on campus, package mailings, coordinate social media postings and assist the international recruitment team on a variety of projects.  Staff will be trained on Salesforce/TargetX and People Soft.

Call Center Representative

Students are employed to answer questions via phone or online chat to foster relationships between the Office of Admissions and prospects, current students and their families. The position will include contacting prospective students and their parents via phone to share all of the wonderful experiences you are having at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to phone, walk-in and email inquiries related to UNL's admissions procedures and policies
  • Provide counseling support for simple admissions and enrollment questions from students and guests
  • Maintain a professional, enthusiastic and friendly public relationship to those who contact the Office of Admissions
  • Meet/exceed goals as outlined by the center manager
  • Data inputting for information requests and retrieve admissions status data

Campus Visits - Front Line

Campus Visits - Host

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Office of Admissions seeks undergraduate students with leadership experience to impact future enrollment at Nebraska. As a tour guide, you will host prospective students and families visiting campus, lead school & community group tours, and highlight the amazing academic opportunities and vibrant student life at UNL. This is a paid student position.

Duties:

  • Deliver informed 90-minute walking tours of campus to prospective students and their families in various weather conditions
  • Provide a warm and hospitable Husker welcome to each Nebraska visitor
  • Participate in recruiting and diversity events
  • Serve as speakers for Student Panels at a variety of admissions events
  • Develop relationships with Office of Admissions professional staff
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team, and be flexible with responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for UNL-- Share your knowledge, passion, and why you chose Nebraska with all guests
  • Willingness to speak in front of visitors and large groups with enthusiasm
  • Ability to answer questions about UNL, student life, and the admissions process in a professional, positive manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with on campus living is a plus

Tour guides must be available to work at least two shifts a week and attend occasional meetings.  Thorough training will be provided to all students who are hired for this position.

Fall and Spring Semester Shift Times:

Monday and Friday - 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.,  1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Campus Visits - Honors Tour Guide

We are looking for Honors Program students with leadership experience to join our team.  Job entails hosting prospective students and families as well as providing event support.  This is a great on-campus job for students who wish to positively represent the diversity & academic excellence at UNL to prospective students and their families.  Training will be provided. 

We are looking for students with Monday through Friday availability during mornings or afternoons or both.  Tour guides will occasionally help with recruiting events which may involve evening/weekend hours. Work hours are approximately 5-15 hrs/week.

Campus Visits - Intern

STATUS : CLOSED

Job Description:

The Office of Admissions is looking for qualified and enthusiastic sophomores through seniors who enjoy public speaking, are involved on campus and passionate about promoting UNL! Selected students will give one presentation 2-5 times per week on the topic of Student Life at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Students will receive a semester stipend ranging from $200 to $500 per semester depending upon the number of presentations given each week.

Qualifications/Duties

  • Selected students will be in charge of giving a student life presentation to prospective students and their parents 2-5 times per week
  • The internship will also include weekly or bi-weekly meetings
  • You will be well trained and there are opportunities to help with special recruiting events and to advance within the internship
  • Giving a short 3-5 minute presentation will be a part of the interview process

Hours

2-5 hours per week.  The presentations will run Monday through Friday from,
12:20-12:45 p.m. and 1:30-1:50 p.m.

Data Entry Team

Dean's Office - Office Assistant

This position supports the Assistant to the Dean of Admissions in the Office of Admissions. It’s a perfect position for anyone who is a self starter, organized and likes to take initiative.

Qualifications/Duties:

  • Assisting with the Dean’s incoming calls, correspondence, mail, calendaring, copying, and coordination of mailing lists
  • Additional duties would include ordering and distribution of supplies and other office assistance as needed
  • Computer experience with Word and Excel spread sheets and data entry preferred

Events Management Team - Event Assistant

Are you a task driven worker who likes to assist on fundamental projects? The Student Worker Position would assist the Events Management Team. The Events Management Team is responsible for creating, planning and implementing recruitment events for the Office of Admissions.

Responsibilities would include:
• Prepping event materials for over 100 recruitment events
• Assisting in final tasks in the days leading up to recruitment events
• Packing event materials and assisting Event Coordinators
• Work at events as needed and maintain strong customer service skills
• Other duties as assigned

Events Management Team - Event Intern

The Events Intern position would have the opportunity to work directly with Events Management Team and learn the event planning process from beginning to end. Through this position you would also have the chance to gain some hands on event planning experience.

Responsibilities would include:
• Researching modern ideas in the world of event planning to create an innovative event experience
• Work at events as needed and maintain strong customer service skills
• Plan and implement a recruitment event during the academic year

The NEBRASKA College Preparatory Academy (NCPA) is a program that works with first-generation and low-income students and families from the Grand Island and North Omaha communities.  NCPA is designed to work with these students and families throughout high school to ensure high school success, adequate college preparation, and admission into UNL or another college or university.  The NCPA Mentor will work closely with a small group of students from Omaha and serve as their mentor.

Qualifications/Duties:

Nebraska College Preparatory Academy - Tutor

The NEBRASKA College Preparatory Academy (NCPA) works with first-generation and low-income students and families from the North Omaha community and has expanded into the South Omaha community. We are seeking tutors for our high school scholars at Omaha North High Magnet and Omaha South Magnet School. The NCPA tutor will work closely with a varied group of students at Omaha North High Magnet, assisting with classwork and modeling study skills.

QUALIFICATIONS/DUTIES:

Pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor's degree in Education or a STEM field
Have transportation to Omaha North High or Omaha South High                                        A strong math background is preferred (specifically trig/pre-calculus and calculus)
A strong background in science is preferred (specifically physics and chemistry)                  A background in languages (Spanish, French, German) would be beneficial

HOURS:

Estimated hours of 4-8 per week, depending on tutor availability.
