As a K-12 educational leader, you are invited to attend a special event at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Administrators on Campus is designed for leaders across the state to discuss issues within K-12 and learn more about how the university is preparing the next generation of alumni. You will connect with other administrators, counselors, and current Nebraska students from your school. This event will be a great opportunity to expand your professional development and understand the university’s enhancement to student success.

Travel Stipend

Nebraska has a limited number of stipends to support school districts that may have financial need. Stipends can be up to $200 and are on a first-come, first-served basis. To be considered for this stipend, please apply by filling out the designated section on the registration form.

Highlights of your day will include:

  • An address by new Nebraska Chancellor, Dr. Ronnie Green.
  • Opportunities to meet with students from your area that currently attend the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
  • Opportunities to engage K–12 Nebraska faculty experts.
  • Learning how the university is retaining and graduating your former students.

Dr. Susan Swearer Willa Cather Professor of Educational Psychology

Susan Swearer Headshot

Dr. Susan Swearer is a national expert in bullying and peer victimization in children, youth, and young adults. Swearer's research interests include bullying prevention and intervention; the comorbidity of psychological disorders in children and adolescents; developmental issues in psychopathology; the relationship between internalizing psychopathology and externalizing behavior; and cognitive-behavioral interventions with youth and their families.

Her current research projects include the development of a cognitive-behavioral intervention for youth who bully others; factors that influence the development of kindness and bravery; using participatory action research to change local norms related to bullying; and other studies that can be found at the Empowerment Initiative.

Swearer’s “Target Bullying Intervention Program” was featured on CBS Sunday Morning in February 2011; she was an invited presenter at the White House Bullying Prevention Conference in March 2011; and she was a panel member at Harvard University for the launch of the Born This Way Foundation, along with Lady Gaga, Oprah, Deepak Chopra and Secretary of HHS Kathleen Sebelieus in February 2012.

In March 2012, Swearer was a featured bullying expert on Anderson Cooper’s daytime show, “Anderson.” From January to March 2013, she toured with Lady Gaga and the Born This Way Foundation on the Born Brave Bus, a youth empowerment experience that has reached over 70,000 participants.
