The Kansas City Husker Welcome is a special gathering for students admitted to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. This is your chance to meet your future classmates and imagine your life as a Husker—both on campus and after you graduate.

This event will be hosted in the home of successful Nebraska alums Steve and Sherry Toomey.

Join us for appetizers and refreshments, networking with local alums, and a formal presentation from your Nebraska admissions representative to help you learn more about your next steps to becoming a Husker.

This Open House event will begin at 4 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Guests are welcome to arrive at any time throughout the duration of the event.

Admission to this event is free and family members are welcome. Attire for this event is business casual.

Steve Toomey

Steve Toomey

Steve Toomey is a Nebraska graduate with a B.S. degree in marketing and an M.B.A. in finance. Steve currently serves as a board member for a Kansas City-based not-for-profit and is an executive board member and Investment Committee chair for the University of Nebraska Alumni Association.

Steve, a principal of BKD Wealth Advisors, LLC (BKDWA), oversees BKDWA’s practice offices and leads the Benefit Plan Consulting division. He began his investment consulting career in 1994. Steve provides investment consulting services to affluent families, qualified retirement plans, corporations, governmental entities, foundations and endowments.

Learn more about the next steps you need to take to become a Husker. Students will have the opportunity to mingle with other local admitted students and hear from current Nebraska alums. Presentations will run periodically throughout the event.

Hear closing remarks from University staff and alumni and get any of your final questions or concerns addressed.
