Alumni Resources

As an alum, you know firsthand the value of a Nebraska education. We invite you to share your experiences with future Huskers and help our community grow and thrive. You are in a unique position to speak honestly and with authority on what it’s like to be a Husker before and after graduation. The insight you can provide prospective Nebraska students is invaluable to their college decision process. Here are a few resources for you to share your Husker experience with high school seniors considering Nebraska.

  1. Participate in our Postcards of Pride Program: Through this program, you will be asked to share your favorite campus memories and encourage prospective students to enroll at Nebraska by writing a handful of postcards throughout the year. At the time when students do so much of their college search online, a handwritten note goes a long way.
  2. Join us at an Admitted Student Reception: The Office of Admissions hosts Admitted Student Receptions in some of our target out-of-state markets, including Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Sioux Falls. At these events, we invite alumni to mingle with students and their families. Students at these receptions are making their final college decisions. These students are open and receptive to what you have to say, and want to know what your Husker experience has done for your life.
  3. Huskers for Higher Education: Becoming an advocate for the university by being a voice in support of critical initiatives and proposals, you can make a difference. The Nebraska Alumni Association will contact you with information and resources you need to be active during the state's legislative or election cycle. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's impact on the state of Nebraska reaches far beyond Lincoln—the university's economic impact exceeds $2 billion and UNL Extension touches all 93 state counties. We need passionate volunteers who are willing to contact state senators and share vital information through calls to action. HHE is not a lobbying program, and we will not tell you how to vote on issues.

To give you one easy and convenient place to stay connected with the university, going forward the Office of Admissions will coordinate all opportunities for you to get involved through the Nebraska Alumni Association. For more volunteer information, visit huskeralum.org/volunteer.
