Awarded to out-of-state students of academic distinction and finalists in nationally recognized scholar competitions, such as the National Merit and National Recognition programs (First-Generation or Rural and Small Town Recognition Awards). National Merit finalists must select the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as their first-choice school through the National Merit Corporation. Nationally recognized finalists must score a minimum of 28 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) and have a minimum 3.500 GPA.
Award
Recipients are awarded full non-resident portion of tuition plus $4,000 per year for up to four years.
Note: National Merit Scholars may qualify for an additional $500 stipend in partnership with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Review Basis
Chancellor's scholars demonstrate academic distinction at an exceptional level. Selection is based on recognition in nationally recognized scholar competitions and a holistic review that includes a balanced objective assessment of competitive academic achievement including exceptional grade point average in combination with an excellent class rank or competitive test score with a subjective final academic review.
Renewability
Students must maintain a 3.500 cumulative GPA and complete 24 hours each academic year. See full guidelines for scholarship.
Transferability
This scholarship is offered by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The scholarship is not transferable in part or in whole to any other university or campus, including the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK), the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) or the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). This scholarship will not cover the cost of tuition for classes taken at UNO, UNK, NCTA or UNMC.
