The Big Red Experience is an open house half-day visit with morning and afternoon options designed to help you experience the best of Nebraska while exploring your future academic path. During a Big Red Experience visit, you’ll tour campus with a current Nebraska student as your guide, attend academic sessions of your choice, learn more about student involvement opportunities and discuss your next steps to Nebraska!

In keeping with recommended health and safety guidelines, capacity is limited. Students are allowed to bring only two guests. Pre-registration is required; we are unable to accept walk-ins. If you have any questions about this event or applying to Nebraska, please contact the Nebraska Office of Admissions at 402-472-2023.

The cost to attend the Big Red Experience is $5/person. Sorry, no refunds.

COVID-19 Event Information

As it has done throughout the pandemic, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln continues to follow the most recent guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department no longer requires face masks in all indoor spaces. Face masks are now optional in all indoor spaces on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln campus in accordance with local guidance. Please note—we will inform you of any change in the current directed health measure in a final details email prior to the event.

Check-in

Check-in will begin at 8:45 a.m. in the Nebraska Union (1400 R St.). At check-in, we’ll validate your parking and give you the necessary materials for your day ahead.

9 a.m.

Welcome

During this "big picture" welcome to the University, you will learn why Nebraska is a great place to start your future and what steps you need to take to apply, become eligible for scholarships and financial aid and get involved in the vibrant campus community.

9:30 a.m.

Campus Tour

Experience what life is like as a student at Nebraska. We'll walk through campus, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.

11 a.m.

Academic Session 1

Choose from a variety of academic disciplines to learn more about your fields of interest in these break-out sessions, hosted by our academic colleges and departments.

11:30 a.m.

Academic Session 2

Choose from a variety of academic disciplines to learn more about your fields of interest in these break-out sessions, hosted by our academic colleges and departments.

11:30 a.m.

Information Fair

During this one-hour browsing fair, you will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with representatives from various campus offices like Housing, Husker Hub, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Global Experiences and more!

12:30 p.m.

Optional Lunch

Enjoy lunch in one of our on-campus dining halls.

Check-in

Check-in will begin at 12 p.m. in the Nebraska Union (1400 R St.). Check-in early to enjoy lunch in our of our on-campus dining halls. At check-in, we’ll validate your parking and provide your materials for the day and lunch tickets.

Parking & Check-in

Parking is available at the Larson Building (1317 Q Street) and Que Place (1111 Q Street) parking garages. No need to pay—your parking will be validated before you leave.
