First Generation Symposium

More than a third of college students are the first in their family to attend college. Each spring, we host a special event for prospective first generation college students to help them:

  • Gain access to the resources that’ll help get them into college.
  • Meet others who are new to the college-going process.
  • Explore what makes Nebraska the best place to start their story.

Husker Weekday

Interested in bringing your group to Nebraska? We have several group visit options for you to choose from, including our College Access Days (designed for both middle school and high school groups) and Husker Weekday group visits!

Group Visit Details

Campus visits are offered Tuesday through Thursday beginning at either 10 or 11:15 a.m. at the Van Brunt Visitors Center. We encourage your group to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled campus visit time.

We cannot guarantee a campus visit to groups that arrive more than 30 minutes late.

Lunch is offered to group visitors at a discounted rate of $5.90 per person. You will receive an invoice for $5.90 per person after your visit.

Through the College Visit Grant, you may qualify to be reimbursed for the cost of your group visit.

For cars and vans, free on-campus parking is available at the Alexander Building parking lot (1410 Q St.), located directly across the street from Arby’s. Additional parking is available at the Larson Building parking garage (1317 Q St.) No need to pay—just bring your stub and we’ll validate your parking before you leave.

If you plan to provide bus transportation, please drop your students off at the Nebraska Union (1400 R St.) While there, we will supply you with a parking pass to leave your bus at Innovation Campus (2021 Transformation Dr.) Staff will be available to shuttle bus drivers back to the Nebraska Union, if needed.

Due to liability, we require 1 chaperone for every 10 students in attendance. Each chaperone should be at least 19 years of age (preferably 21 years of age).

In the unlikely event that you need to cancel your visit, please contact our office 3 business days prior.

Groups that order lunch will be responsible for lunch costs if they do not cancel their visit day 3 business days prior.
