This event is designed with seniors in mind. We’ll show you what college looks like, break down the process and requirements to go to college and give you time to create and knock out your personal statement while you’re here, which you’ll use to qualify for scholarships.
We encourage 9th–11th grade students to attend our Spring Black Symposium on March 26, 2019. Registration opens January 1, 2019.
Transportation will be available from the Omaha area. Please use the transportation dropdown on the registration form if you would like to use the free transportation.
Cost: $5/person*—Sorry, no refunds. Cost includes lunch and t-shirt.
*Fee waiver may be approved for students on free and reduced lunch at school.
The dress for the event is business casual. Please dress accordingly.

Event registration and check-in will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the Ballroom on the second floor of the Nebraska Union (1400 R St.) At check-in, we’ll validate your parking and give you everything you’ll need for your day ahead.

Community Engagement Panel
Successful leaders understand and educate themselves on the ever-changing issues and perspectives within their communities. Regardless of your experiences and knowledge, you should remain committed to challenging yourself to think critically about issues from all angles. This panel will engage community members to explore topics from your perspective and through the lens of others in the community.
Tell Your Story
Learn more about how to tell your story through words. During this session, you will write a personal statement, the same personal statement that can qualify you for scholarships.

Learn more about the admission requirements and application and get all the information you’ll need to prepare for your senior year and the college decision process. Also hear from the Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS) staff on ways to continue your success while on campus.
Enjoy lunch in one of our on-campus dining halls—the cost will be covered in your $5 registration fee.
Choose from a variety of academic disciplines and learn more about your fields of interest in these breakout sessions hosted by our academic colleges and departments.
Students are excused. We’ll dismiss students who traveled by bus according to their transportation groups.
