You already possess the power within to create positive change in the world. Bring your strengths and collaborate with other high school students at the Native Diversity Leadership Symposia. Explore how to build on your strengths, develop your leadership skills and establish your foundation for success.

Our theme this year, #WeAreTheChange, is focused on meeting you wherever you are on your path. We know with support and guidance, you can to do big things. At Nebraska, we’re all in this together. During the event, you’ll discover the many ways Nebraska can provide the tools you need to establish a strong foundation for success, from learning how to apply to college to engaging with community members on trending issues.

Making the commitment to attend the Native Leadership Symposium already means there’s something special in you that is driving you toward success. No matter what your interests are, your future matters at Nebraska, and we’re here with the people, resources and tools to help you on your path.

By attending this event, you’ll be considered for the Emerging Leaders tuition scholarship worth $2,000 per year (up to $8,000), if you meet the requirements.

Event Details

Transportation will be available from the Omaha area. Please use the transportation dropdown on the registration form if you would like to use the free transportation.

Cost: $5/person*—Sorry, no refunds. Cost includes lunch and t-shirt.

*Fee waiver may be approved for students on free and reduced lunch at school.

The dress for the event is business casual. Please dress accordingly.

This event is sponsored by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Union Pacific.

If you are under the age of 18, please have your parents/guardians complete the forms below and bring them with you on the day of the event.

Event registration and check-in will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the Ballroom on the second floor of the Nebraska Union (1400 R St.) At check-in, we’ll validate your parking and give you everything you’ll need for your day ahead.

Choose to hear from a variety of student resources available to you at Nebraska. These sessions will help build connections and give you the tools to be successful as a student on campus.

11 a.m.

Community Engagement Panel

Successful leaders understand and educate themselves on the ever-changing issues and perspectives within their communities. Regardless of your experiences and knowledge, you should remain committed to challenging yourself to think critically about issues from all angles. This panel will engage community members to explore topics from your perspective and through the lens of others in the community.

12 p.m.

Lunch

Enjoy lunch in one of our on-campus dining halls—the cost will be covered in your $5 registration fee.

1 p.m.

Academic Session

Choose from a variety of academic disciplines and learn more about your fields of interest in these breakout sessions hosted by our academic colleges and departments.

Bus Dismissal

Students are excused. We’ll dismiss students who traveled by bus according to their transportation groups.

Learn how to empower yourself and others and to succeed in and out of the classroom.

Campus Tour

Experience what life is like as a student at Nebraska. We'll walk the tour, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
